- Prevent water pollution and minimise water usage
- Where appropriate, sediment control measures will be constructed to prevent suspended soil particles entering waterways. Before any water is discharged from site, check with the project team to have the water measured.
- Surround any storage areas for fuels, oils and chemicals with an impervious bund. The location of storage areas can’t be within 20 metres of any areas of concentrated water flow, flood and poorly drained areas, on slopes above 10 degrees or near any areas of native vegetation.
- Always refuel plant and equipment within bonded areas and more than 50m away from waterways.
- Don’t dispose of any foreign liquids into storm water drains, use a disposal tank (be mindful not to mix chemicals).
- Carry a spill containment equipment kit with any large amount of hazardous liquid.
- Preparation of works in waterways to be postponed during or immediately following heavy rainfall or when waterways are running high.
