Hot Works, Fire Extinguishers and Fire Exits

All work involving electric or gas welding, cutting, brazing, or similar flame or spark-producing operations must be cover by safety documentation. Check with the site supervisor prior to hot works to determine if a permit is required.

All sites will have fire extinguishers available for general emergency use. If you discharge an extinguisher, even accidentally, please advise the site supervisor.

If you’re doing hot works, you need to have your own fire extinguisher close by.

If your plant risk assessment mentions the use of a fire extinguisher as a control, an extinguisher must be mounted to the plant.

All fire extinguishers must within test date (every 6 months) and have a stamped test tag attached.

Keep fire exits and paths to them clear at all times, don’t put equipment or materials near exits which may prevent clear egress in an emergency.

Don’t prop open fire or exit doors.
