General Safety Rules

At all times, you must, so far as is reasonably practicable:

  • Work responsibly and in a manner to ensure your own health and safety and that of others.
  • Use and maintain correct, task appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • At all times obey safety signs and instructions.
  • Be aware of mobile plant, confined space work, construction work at height and areas that have safety barriers protecting them.
  • Attend and participate in any safety training and / or consultation that is provided on site.
  • Comply with all WHS Legislation and Regulations, statutory and industry codes of practice, applicable laws, Manteena requirements, policies and procedures (these are all available from Manteena), your work method statements and manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Co-operate in achieving a safe and healthy workplace. If you identify a hazard, fix it if you can without placing yourself at risk. If not, remain at the scene to prevent an incident and send someone for help (or use your mobile). Once help arrives, fix the situation and immediately report the hazard to the site supervisor or safety advisor.
  • Report all workplace accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses to the site supervisor or safety advisor as soon as possible.
  • Never perform or attempt to perform any duty or undertake any task which you reasonably believe places your health and safety, or that of fellow worker, at risk.
  • Use tools and equipment only as intended and as per manufacturer’s specifications. All guards and safety devices must be in place and engaged.
  • Never start or continue work if it can’t be done safely. Talk to the site manager or safety advisor immediately.
  • Workers must be over the age of 16 years
