Noise Pollution and Vibration

Follow noise emission regulations relating to Work Health and Safety and Environmental Protection Guidelines and make sure that:

  • Noise generated by equipment conforms to noise emission guidelines.
  • Equipment is not operated outside working hours, or times specified in tender documentation, especially in residential or occupied areas.
  • The site supervisor is notified when work is likely to cause harsh vibration or offensive noise that is likely to impact on the public so they might be informed. (Based on risk assessment)
  • Work is undertaken during normal working hours. Any work that is undertaken on Sundays, Public Holidays or outside normal working hours requires prior approval
  • You and your workers turn off noise generating equipment when not in use.
  • Appropriate hearing protection is worn by all those likely to be affected by excessive noise (i.e. not only the operator performing the work).
  • All reasonable practical steps are taken to reduce maintenance activity noise and vibration from the site.
