Follow all regulatory fire safety standards and measures:

• Supress sparks that could be caused by equipment. Set up a non-flammable zone and use a spotter.
• Keep your work area tidy and clear of flammable materials.
• When welding, use welding bays or screens.
• Where possible, limit the amount of hot work being done on site, do as much as possible in a controlled location such as a workshop wherever practical.
• Do a hot works permit (when specified), before starting work.
• Carry an in-date fire extinguisher whenever completing hot works.
• Burning of rubbish or lighting of fires is not permitted on the site.
